Your Library Is Now FINE FREE!

Cook Memorial Library is now FINE FREE! That's right, you will no longer be charged overdue fines if you don't return items on time.  Better yet, all past overdue fines are also forgiven from your account. (Give us until March 31st to complete the behind the scenes work.)

The public library is where everyone can access information and entertainment for free and we want to keep it that way! We are removing barriers to access so that everyone in our community can use the library regardless of personal circumstance!

We just want our items back so that others can enjoy them too! While we won't charge you late fees, please remember that you are still responsible for lost and damaged items. If you don't return an item, it will be considered lost and you will not be able to check out additional items until you return or pay for the item. You will continue to receive overdue notices asking you to return your items too. Read our Fine Free FAQ for more details.

The fine free policy only applies to items you check out at our library regardless of the owning library. However, you may be charged overdue fines if you visit another library and use your library card to check out items there; we cannot waive those fines. Be sure you know their policies when you check out!

AND, if you feel guilty about returning items late, we are always happy to accept your donations...otherwise, no guilt and no judgment here! We’re just happy to get items back so others can enjoy them.
